“Everything from the initial consultation, to updates and communication was effortless… there were no surprises.” Shameemah · Google review
Two ways to start. Both free.
Either way you end up with the same thing: an unpriced bill of quantities, every item on the job with its quantity and no rates in it, so every builder you ask prices the same work.

You don’t need drawings or a finished plan. Walk your property with a builder and leave with scope, budget direction and a realistic timeline, whether you build with us or not. We measure the work on site and write it up afterwards.
- A realistic view of what the work actually involves
- Answers on plans, approvals and what’s required
- Budget direction, then a fixed itemised quote
Skip the visit. Send the drawings.
Send three builders the same plans and you get three numbers hundreds of thousands apart, because each one quietly priced a different job. We measure your drawings and send back the schedule, unpriced, within days.
- Every quote covers the same work, line for line
- You can see exactly what a cheaper builder left out
- Yours to keep, whoever you appoint
What we ask in return: that FN is one of the builders you invite to price the work. That is the whole condition. You are still free to appoint anyone, our competitors included.
See the transformation.
Drag the slider, this pool and entertainment area in Goodwood went from tired and unusable to a space the owners actually live in. It is the same care we bring to home renovations across Cape Town: clear scope, practical sequencing and a finish we're happy to put our name on.

See it before we build it.
Every concept starts as a working SketchUp model of your actual room, built to its real dimensions, so you can judge the layout properly instead of trying to picture it from a description. This one is from a real client proposal for a fold-away bed room.

You receive a high resolution proposal electronically and as a printed copy. Where there is a genuine intention to move forward together, it is included at no cost. Finish and styling visuals are impressions of how it could look, not construction drawings.

What it is like to work with us.
Choosing a builder is mostly guesswork until someone who has actually used one tells you the truth.
Everything from the initial consultation, to updates and communication was effortless. We were given a detailed budget, work schedule and cost analysis as works were being completed and there were no surprises.
I appreciate that all my concerns were prioritised and that they were flexible with suggestions that made sense. The workers were respectful of my home and my environment. Faizel works professionally and the work, from start to finish, was of exceptional quality. The tiling and mouldings are the best in the industry.
Honesty, integrity and brilliant communication are really rare traits. I would recommend them to anyone.
“The budget and project timeline were clearly established and agreed upon before any work commenced… there were no surprises. The quality of workmanship exceeded my expectations, and their after-sales service has been outstanding. They genuinely stand behind their work.”Carlo Van Der Venter Braai patio · Google review
“Warren and the FN Building Projects team transformed our backyard… they really went above and beyond. We love our space and love that we get to enjoy and make even more memories in our most favourite place.”Janine Jepthas Backyard transformation · Google review
Worked with us? A few honest lines on Google helps the next homeowner decide, and it keeps us honest too.
Review us on GoogleWe run renovations the way large construction projects are run.
Clear scope before work starts. A fixed, itemised quote you can hold us to. Steady communication while we build. Quality inspections before you pay the final cent, and a follow-up inspection 60 days later, at no cost, to prove the work has held up.
And we carry the risk, not you.
Your household policy will often not cover damage while your home is a building site. We carry Contractors All Risks cover and hold a valid COIDA Letter of Good Standing, and we will send you both if you ask. There is no law requiring a builder to carry either, which is exactly why it is worth asking every contractor who quotes you. Why this matters
And we put it in writing.

Frequently asked questions.
Can't find what you're looking for? Call us on 021 201 9863 or 071 657 8766 and we'll talk it through.
Ask a questionDo you offer free quotes for renovation projects?
Yes. Every project starts with a free, no-obligation site visit. We walk the space with you, talk through your plans, and follow up with a clear, itemised fixed quote so you can plan with confidence.
Which areas of Cape Town do you cover?
We work across greater Cape Town, the Southern Suburbs, Atlantic Seaboard and Northern Suburbs included. If you're a little further out, get in touch and we'll let you know straight away whether we can help.
Are you registered and compliant?
We are NHBRC-registered and a registered Type 2 asbestos contractor, tax and VAT compliant, and we hold a valid COIDA Letter of Good Standing, so our workers are covered for injury on duty. We carry Contractors All Risks insurance, R2.5 million on contract works and R2 million public liability, so the works are covered while they are being built, along with damage caused to other people and their property during construction. We comply with all health and safety requirements on every site. We also work hand in hand with registered structural and civil engineers and architects, so your project is properly designed, signed off and built to standard.
Can you help if I only have a rough idea of what I want?
That's exactly what the free site visit is for. You don't need drawings or a finished plan. Walk us through what you're thinking, and we'll help you shape it into a realistic scope, timeline and budget direction before you commit to anything.
Do you handle small and large projects?
Both. Our completed work ranges from single bathrooms and garage conversions to civil works and a municipal depot. Whatever the size, the same process applies: site visit, itemised fixed quote, one accountable team.
How long does a renovation typically take?
It depends on scope. A single bathroom might take two to three weeks, while a full home renovation runs over several months. We give you a realistic timeline up front in your quote, and keep you updated against it.
How soon can you start?
It depends on our current project commitments and the scope of your work. We confirm a realistic start date with your quote rather than promising one we can't keep. Booking your site visit early secures your place in the schedule.
How do you communicate during the project?
You deal with one accountable team from first visit to final sign-off, the same people you see on our About page. You'll know what's happening on site, what comes next, and where the project stands against the timeline.
Do I need council plans, and who arranges them?
Plans and council approvals are arranged by you, and we build to the approved drawings. Where a project needs plans, you appoint a draughtsman or architect to draw them and submit to the City. At your site visit we will tell you whether your project needs plans and what the drawings should show, so nothing holds up the build later.
