What we do with your information.
Short version: we use what you send us to answer your enquiry or prepare your bill of quantities, and nothing else. We don’t sell it, we don’t share it with other builders, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
This notice is provided by FN Building Projects Pty Ltd in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Your plans, specifically
If you send drawings through the free BOQ request, they are used for one purpose: measuring the work so we can send you an unpriced bill of quantities.
- Your drawings are never shared with other contractors, suppliers or third parties.
- Only the people preparing your BOQ see them.
- We keep them for 90 days after we send your BOQ, in case you come back with questions, then delete them. Ask us and we’ll delete them sooner, or keep them longer if you’d rather we did.
- You are not obliged to appoint us, and declining to does not change any of the above.
What we collect
Only what the form asks for, and only what we need to reply:
- Enquiry form: your name, phone number, what you need and your message. Email is optional. Suburb, timing, budget and plan status are optional.
- BOQ request: your name, phone number, email address, and any drawings you upload. Suburb, plan status and a preferred call time are used to reach you at a sensible hour.
- Calls and WhatsApp: if you phone or message us, we keep the conversation the way any business keeps client correspondence.
- Website analytics: anonymous, aggregated statistics through Google Analytics, so we can see which pages are useful. This does not identify you.
What we do with it
We contact you about your project, prepare your site visit, quote or BOQ, and keep the records a building contractor is expected to keep. That is the whole list. We do not sell your details, we do not add you to a marketing list without asking, and we do not pass your information to anyone else except where a project genuinely requires it, for example an engineer or a subcontractor working on your job, and then only what they need.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don’t become projects: two years, then deleted. Uploaded drawings: 90 days after your BOQ is sent, unless you tell us otherwise. Client and project records: retained as long as tax, warranty and construction-liability obligations require.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us using it. Email info@fnbuildingprojects.co.za or call 021 201 9863 and we’ll action it. You don’t need to give a reason. If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled it, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS, form submissions come to our own business email, and access to project files is limited to the people working on them. No system is perfect, but we don’t keep what we don’t need, which is the most effective protection there is.
