What we do with your information.

Short version: we use what you send us to answer your enquiry or prepare your bill of quantities, and manage the resulting project records. We don’t sell it, we don’t share it with other builders, and you can ask us to delete it, subject to any records we must lawfully retain.

This notice is provided by FN Building Projects Pty Ltd in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Your plans, specifically

If you send us drawings or tender documents, they are used for one purpose: measuring and pricing the work you asked us about.

  • We do not distribute your drawings to other builders for them to quote. Our hosting, email and file-handling services may process them to deliver the service.
  • Access is limited to the people assessing and preparing your BOQ and the service providers supporting that work.
  • We keep them for 90 days after we send your BOQ, in case you come back with questions, then delete them unless another lawful retention obligation applies. You can ask for earlier deletion or agree a longer period.
  • You are not obliged to appoint us, and declining to does not change any of the above.

What we collect

Only what the form asks for, and only what we need to reply:

  • Enquiry form: your name, phone number, what you need and your message. Email is optional unless you choose email as your preferred reply method. Suburb, timing, budget and plan status are optional.
  • BOQ request: your name, phone number, email address, and any drawings you upload. Suburb and plan status help us assess the request. An optional preferred contact time helps us reach you if needed.
  • Calls and WhatsApp: if you phone or message us, we keep the conversation the way any business keeps client correspondence.
  • Website analytics: page views and interaction events through Google Analytics, including clicks and form outcomes. Analytics may use cookies and device identifiers. Our custom enquiry events do not include the name, phone number, email or message entered in the form.

What we do with it

We contact you about your project, prepare your site visit, quote or BOQ, and keep the records a building contractor is expected to keep. Website and communication providers also process information needed to operate these services. We do not sell your details, we do not add you to a marketing list without asking, and we do not pass your information to anyone else except where a project genuinely requires it, for example an engineer or a subcontractor working on your job, and then only what they need.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don’t become projects: two years, then deleted. Uploaded drawings: 90 days after your BOQ is sent, unless you tell us otherwise or another lawful retention obligation applies. Client and project records: retained as long as tax, warranty and construction-liability obligations require.

Your rights

Under POPIA you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us using it. Email info@fnbuildingprojects.co.za or call 021 201 9863 and we will assess and respond to your request, including any identity checks or lawful retention requirements. If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled it, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Keeping it safe

The site runs over HTTPS, form submissions come to our own business email, and access to project files is limited to the people working on them. No system is perfect, but we don’t keep what we don’t need, which is the most effective protection there is.

Unfinished form drafts

Typed enquiry details can be saved in your browser tab for up to 30 minutes so you can restore them after a reload. Uploaded files are not saved. Use “Clear saved draft” beside the form to remove the stored copy and stop saving for that visit. Drafts are cleared after a successful submission. They are not sent to FN until you submit the form.
